LUL offers a large number of desks in different learning and working environments in its branches. You are free to choose your seat in the reading rooms, no prior seat booking is necessary.
Computer workplaces are available in all branches.
How can I log in to the computers?
Depending on which group of persons you belong to, you can log in with your university login or with your library login:

Identifier assigned by the University Computer Centre to all university members. Further information can be found on the page about the Uni-login.
Library-login
Combination of library number and associated password. It is necessary activate your library account in order to use our computer workplaces. Please keep in mind that after a replacement of your library card you have to activate your library account again.
Campus Augustusplatz
The following rooms in the Seminargebäude Campus Augustusplatz can be used until 14 July 2025 in the specified periods:

Medizin-Campus
Extension of the opening hours of the Medicine and Sciences Library
The Medicine and Sciences Library will open one hour earlier from Monday, 16 June 2025 to Friday, 11 July 2025.
Monday-Friday: 7 am-midnight.
Additional workspaces
Two seminar rooms are reserved in the Study Centre (Liebigstr. 27) from 16 June 2025 to 18 July.2025. Please note, the rooms are locked, transponders can be borrowed at the service desk of the Medicine and Sciences Library, preferably for groups.

Further alternative seats in Liebigstraße:
- in the Study Centre (Liebigstraße 27) there are approx. 100 places available in the foyer in front of the large lecture hall, some with power sockets. Accessibility of the building through the inner courtyard: 7 am–9 pm
- in the anatomy department (Liebigstraße 13) there are approx. 15 places in the so-called Strebergang on the way to the dissecting room. Accessibility: 7 am–5 pm
For intensive writing and learning phases, you can book a carrel at three UBL locations. Carrels can be booked for 4 weeks. There is the option of 3 extensions provided that the place has not been pre-booked by someone else. You can check here if carrels are available and at which location and reserve one if necessary.
Please note that due to the high demand, it may happen that all individual workplaces are already allocated and have already been pre-booked several times.
When the maximum number of reservations has been reached, the reservation button is automatically hidden.

Checkroom lockers
Free available checkroom lockers may be used during your stay. Please empty it when the respective branch closes. If a locker is not emptied by closing time or in case of lost key we will open it for a fee you will have to pay. Items not collected will be stored for 6 months and disposed afterwards.
Permanent Lockers
The loan of permanent lockers is only possible with a valid library card. Upon receiving the key for a locker / mobile book cart / workspace for PhD students you accept the terms of use [dt. Schließfachordnung, PDF – 102kB, in German only]. Due to the high demand only one locker / mobile cart or workspace for PhD students may be booked per person.

Mobile book carts
At Bibliotheca Albertina we offer mobile book carts that can be rented for six months by PhD students of Leipzig University.

At some of our branches we offer parent-child rooms that can be reserved via the website. The rooms have varying equipment, please see the list below. In the sanitary areas near the rooms there are diaper-changing tables and diaper pails.
