Films from the Dance Archive Leipzig

With funds from the State Digitization Program and the Project for the Preservation of Audiovisual Heritage in Saxony, around 500 acetate and polyester films from the Tanzarchiv (Dance Archive) Leipzig are to be cataloged and digitized.

Founded in 1957 by Kurt Petermann as a collection of traditionally transmitted folklore, the Tanzarchiv Leipzig evolved to a documentation center for all areas of dance. In the course of its documentation activities, Kurt Petermann also started a collection of dance films. The films are cataloged in the K10plus catalogue and then digitized by a service provider. The presentation will take place via the Deutsche Fotothek Dresden.

Research:

Films that are available online can be accessed via the catalog of the Leipzig University Library. For legal reasons, other digitized films can only be viewed on site at the Saxon State and University Library Dresden.
