Registration

Leipzig University Library serves the teaching, scholary and research activities of the University faculty, students and staff as well as external visitors. You may register online. Access to use the library will depend on which of these categories you belong to, and you will find all the information relevant in the table below. By registering you accept our terms of use [dt. Benutzungs- und Gebührenordnung, PDF, In German only]. You can activate your account as soon as you have received a library number from us.

Genral FAQ about using the library

Registration online

You may register online for a library card. Please choose the option applying to you and fill out the form. We will notify you once the library card can be picked up in your chosen library.

Students of HTWK or HMT Leipzig

registration privileges
Students of HTWK or HMT Leipzig can register with their Student ID for free at Leipzig University Library. Please enquire in person at the service desk.

Library Account

When you register, you will have a personal library account that you must activate before you can make full use of our services.

When you activate your account, you assign yourself a password for logging in and a PIN for the self-checkout machines.

Log in to your library account to

  • Renew loan periods
  • Recall items
  • Request items from the stacks
  • View items you have borrowed and their due dates, your requests and recalled items
  • Change your password, PIN and address (If your are student of Leipzig University please update your personal data through AlmaWeb. We automatically receive those updates each business day.)
  • Create lists of titles, save searches

Your default library login is a combination of your library number and your individual password. In case you forgot your password you can set a new one here.
In case you lost your library card or student ID please contact us as soon as possible to block your account (info@ub.uni-leipzig.de, phone: +49 341 97-30577).
