To support research and teaching, we have special conditions for borrowable media for you. We offer you an increased lending limit and extended standard lending period.

You can extend the loan periods online in your library account.
Special loan conditions apply for lecturers and doctoral students of the University of Leipzig.
Exception: If a book you have borrowed is recalled, no extension of the loan period is possible and the book must be returned in due time.
We will inform you immediately by e-mail in the event of a recall.
Please ensure, especially in the case of longer absences, that the items can be returned on time in the event of a reservation in order to avoid fines.

Patron-driven acquisition of printed books
While searching the catalog you find titles that are marked as not currently held by the library. In this case you can recommend a purchase directly from the catalog. We are of course always open to your suggestions. Please allow us two days for your order to be processed. We will inform you about the purchase of the book and when it will be available.
Patron-driven acquisition of e-books Ebook Central
There is a collection of not yet licensed e-books in our catalog (Ebook Central). These titles may be accessed via short-term loans, costs will be covered by the library. You only need your library number in order to instantly access the resource. This service is for members of Leipzig University only.
Open Access Consultation
We provide advice and information about how texts, articles and papers can be published on Leipzig University's publication server and help you with rights clearance for all publications. Please contact us.

Administration of the publication fund
Leipzig University provides funding for the publication of academic texts in open access journals. You can find out about how your journal fees can be covered here.
You can create lists of course relevant literature in Leipzig University Library's online catalog and include it into your moodle account. Printed literature for current courses can be temporarily collected in a reserve list and will be blocked from borrowing by others.
To request a reserve list for a particular course please contact your subject librarian or the staff of the particular branch library. To make sure that your reserve list is available when the semester starts it is best to submit the request four weeks in advance.
An extension of the reserve list is possible. Please send us a message at least two weeks before the end of the lecture period.
