"The Beauty and Suffering of Horses": Exhibition reopens at Bibliotheca Albertina
The history of veterinary medicine in Saxony is shown using magnificent illustrations and objects in the exhibition ‘The Beauty and Suffering of Horses’, which has been extended until 8 November 2020. The exhibition at Bibliotheca Albertina is open to the public daily from 10am to 6pm and admission is free. Unfortunately, the other part of the exhibition at the gallery in Neues Augusteum will remain closed for the time being.
The exhibition displays precious historical holdings of Leipzig University to explain the interaction between veterinary research, teaching and collections. At Bibliotheca Albertina, the emphasis is on equestrian books, most of which are lavishly illustrated.
Visitors are asked to observe the current hygiene guidelines.
The exhibition catalogue containing over 300 colour illustrations is available as a museum edition for €20 from Café Alibi in Bibliotheca Albertina (currently open Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm).
For more details about the exhibition, please see the exhibition website (german only).
